Caol Ila was founded in 1846 near Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Overlooking the Sound of Islay, it’s the largest distillery on the island by production volume. Though part of the peated Islay tradition, Caol Ila is known for its relatively lighter, cleaner profile compared to some of its neighbors.
