Hakushu is a Japanese single malt whisky distillery operated by Suntory, located in Yamanashi Prefecture in the Japanese Alps. Known as the “forest distillery,” it’s surrounded by lush forest, pure mountain water, and a misty, cool climate. The Japanese Forest Bittersweet Edition is a limited-edition release (2023), part of the “Japanese Forest” series, intended for travel retail and Japan, showcasing a sweet-bitter balance with forest-inspired character.

Colour is amber with slight reddish tones. On the nose: cloves, apricot, prune with fresh forest herbs. Palate: a bittersweet interplay of Manuka honey, orange marmalade and cacao; subtle touches of herbal tea and soft smoke. Finish: espresso-like bitterness lingers, balanced, pleasant, forest herbal edge.
