Camus, founded in 1863 by Jean‑Baptiste Camus, is a rare independent, family‑owned Cognac house now led by the fifth-generation head, Cyril Camus. In their innovative Île de Ré series, Camus showcases eaux‑de‑vie from this small Atlantic island in the Bois Ordinaires cru. The Cliffside Cellar expression undergoes double maturation entirely on the island—initial aging in small barrels, followed by secondary aging in the historic Fort de La Prée cliff‑side cellars, just meters from the ocean—imparting a distinctly maritime character
