Veuve Clicquot (Maison Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin) is one of the oldest and most prestigious Champagne houses, founded in Reims in 1772. After her husband’s death in 1805, Barbe‑Nicole Ponsardin (‘the Widow’ Clicquot) took over the business and introduced innovations like the riddling table to clarify sparkling wine. The Yellow Label (“Brut Yellow Label”) was introduced in the late 19th century to distinguish their dry style ("brut") Champagne for export markets.
