Distillery background
Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy in the Cognac region of France. Since then the house has built up over 250 years of expertise in distilling, ageing and blending eaux-de-vie across the vineyards of the Charente/Charente-Maritime. Their signature V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale) blend was first commissioned in 1817 (for the future King George IV of England) and remains an example of the house’s mastery of harmony and balance in cognac.
