The Thomas Hyland range honours Thomas Hyland, son-in-law of Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold, who managed Penfolds from the late 1800s through 1914. The Chardonnay under this label is made from a blend of cooler-climate South Australian vineyard sources (notably Adelaide Hills, plus parts from Eden Valley, Robe etc.), showing Penfolds’ mid-tier white wine craftsmanship: oak influence, lees work, and varietal character.

Pale straw with green-tinged rim. On the nose: white peach, citrus rind, subtle vanilla and fresh oak spice. Palate brings creamy stone fruit (peach / nectarine), mild buttered toast, warm lees character, and a line of citrus acidity that keeps it fresh. Finish is balanced, with soft mineral edge and gentle oak echoing through.
